I had your same problem (installed linux only a week ago). You need some libraries, check if you are able.. if not, wait for Massimo :P

Do you get any error message?

Do you have:

- hardware acceleration (try glxinfo)
- the library libXxf86vm

Btw, which distribution are you using?

Ok, I paste the result of glinfo at bottom.

Yes, the error message inform me that I have no installed that library, libXxf86vm, but that one is not in my repositories.

Kubuntu brezzy

It seems you don't have hardware acceleration:

Well, I am not sure about wich one is my video card, but I have run Windows system and try yoda_soccer and goes perfectly (and running the NOT directx file).... I think that means that video card is enought to run the game, isn't it?

In linux you may need to change the drivers in order to enable direct rendering.

For ubuntu/kubuntu:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BinaryDriverHowto

geforce fx5200

Ok, the video card is a geforce fx5200.

Anyway, I'll see the post about drivers and tell you here whats the result.

Thank you.

The card is ok for the game. You need to install NVIDIA drivers:

Good luck. :)

i have the same problem:

~/games/yodasoccer/yoda_soccer_072 $ ./yoda_soccer
./yoda_soccer: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86vm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

but i do have this library:

~/games/yodasoccer/yoda_soccer_072 $ ls -lh /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86v*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 2006-01-20 07:37 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86vm.so.1 -> libXxf86vm.so.1.0
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17K 2006-01-15 02:39 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86vm.so.1.0

and the 3D accleration in linux is working fine:

~/games/yodasoccer/yoda_soccer_072 $ glxinfo | grep rend
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: GeForce Go 6800/PCI/SSE2

running Debian GNU/Linux sid, i download the binary, any hint?

lol

well, i "solve" the problem:

~/games/yodasoccer/yoda_soccer_072 $ sudo apt-get install libxxf86vm1 libxxf86vm-dev

.... sorry, must try this kind of things before post a problem in the forum

Well, after install nvidia drivers I have got run the game :)

Even, I could play some small league with custom teams... but after run the game four or five times, now I have the next problem:

- I can manage some league, but after play the first game, when I come back to statistics page when I click over "see result of next match" all the games are played suddenly and the league is over, and the game does not respond to my clicks...

Other bugs I have noted:
- The music is always on, but I tunr off in Options menu.
- After download and install data, I can not play tournament

Thanks in advance.

Everything it's very very strange.

Please make sure to install the game and the data pack as a normal user.

If you install the game as root and then you run the game as normal user, the game cannot change the files on the disk (e.g. configuration files).

This may explain some of your problems.

no way

I have installed the game as normal user. Anyway, I have now run the game as admin, and everything is exactly the same...

I will wait to download the next stable version.

Thank you anyway.
